“I had been searching for a Pygmy Selkie for sale in the Pacific Northwest where I live. I stumbled upon Steve’s website somehow which had one listed for sale. I was hesitant to buy a boat I had never seen before, much less have shipped cross country from North Carolina to the Northwest Washington coast. However, after communicating with Steve, he went the extra mile to find a company that does kayak transport cross country-KAS transport (also highly recommend). Steve has built a beautiful Pygmy Selkie with solid craftsmanship. Throughout the process Steve was very responsive. No matter where you are in the country, I highly recommend purchasing one of Steve’s wooden boats. They are a work of art and some of the best boats on the water.
Thanks again Steve!”
I recently purchased a 14’ Arctic Tern that Steve had personally built from a Pigmy kit. Couldn’t have been more pleased to meet him and his wife. They both went above and beyond to assist in the transport of the boat to us and are very genuine and honest folks. Being a meticulous furniture woodworker myself, I found the quality of Steve’s work among the highest level. The boat’s strength and lightweight construction are second only to the beauty of the wood the Steve made a reality. Great job and thanks again Steve! Hope to see some pics of some of the new boats coming out of your shop.
The wherry boat is beautiful; what a fantastic job!
I get comments all the time on how beautiful my kayak is (Arctic Tern), and it’s a dream to paddle!
I’ve had my Pygmy Boats kayak for over four years now. After lightly sanding the entire boat and applying a couple of coats of varnish, it looks brand new!
